4K Video Recording with Higher Resolution
4K video recording with full pixel readout without pixel binning in Super 35mm format impresses with higher resolution and outstanding clarity compared to conventional 4K films. The XAVC S format also allows for 4K recording with a maximum bitrate of 100 Mbps, ensuring that movements in the film are captured in detail.

Maximum Resolution with FE Lenses
With the growing range of FE lenses (35mm full-frame compatible E-Mount lenses), all specifically developed for full-frame sensors with a higher pixel count, you can fully utilize the high image quality of 42.4 megapixels of the A7R II.

New Back-Illuminated CMOS Full-Frame Sensor
The A7R II features the world's first back-illuminated 35mm full-frame sensor. It boasts an effective resolution of up to 42.4 megapixels, a significantly expanded sensitivity range, and extremely low noise operation. It does not have an optical low-pass filter that could impair sharpness, resulting in consistently clear and detailed images.

BIONZ X™ High-Speed Processor
The BIONZ X image processor optimizes the 42.4 MP image data from the image sensor, providing a more natural and clearer representation. Thanks to detail reproduction technology, the essence of an image can be captured realistically. The diffraction reduction technology also allows for clear images even at small apertures, and the area-specific noise reduction results in adaptive reduction of image noise and greater detail reproduction.

5-Axis Image Stabilization
This stabilization system is tailored for high-resolution image sensors and allows for accurate compensation of various shaking risks that can affect the quality of handheld shots at 42.4 megapixels. The image stabilization corresponds to a shutter speed that is 4.5 steps faster, allowing you to use a wider range of shutter speeds.

Fast Hybrid Autofocus Captures Even More Details
The powerful image sensor supports fast hybrid autofocus, which significantly outpaces conventional autofocus systems in terms of coverage, speed, and response. The phase-detection autofocus with 399-point focal plane covers an image area of 45% – the largest coverage in digital cameras with full-frame sensors. AF coverage with 25-zone contrast detection is also included.
