Unlike many tank destroyers of World War II, the US M18 GMC Hellcat was not based on the chassis of a battle tank but was a completely new design specifically adapted to the requirements, and it was also the first American combat vehicle with torsion bar suspension. The anti-tank self-propelled gun had very light armor of 7 - 12 mm, which only provided sufficient protection against light automatic weapons, small arms, and shell fragments. Its low weight of 17 tons allowed a speed of over 80 km/h, which often more than compensated for the weak protection against heavy and cumbersome enemy tanks. This enabled it to attack and disable enemy tanks, whose frontal armor was too strong for its primary weapon, a 76 mm M1A1 tank gun, from the sides or rear. It was also nearly impossible to hit a Hellcat at full speed, let alone pursue it. Despite its weak armor and the open-topped turret, the vehicle was very successful and popular with the troops. Approximately 2,500 units were produced from July 1943 to October 1944. Model with 1,026 parts, 1 figure, printed blocks, and movable elements. A detailed building manual is included. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 23.5 x 11 x 14.5 cm
