The Blackchili STARTER SET includes two hand-forged knives made from recycled carbon steel with a hardness of 61–63 HRC and blades ground to 15° on both sides. The blades are crafted from retired truck springs, ensuring optimal elasticity and high stability. The HABANERO-17 is a lightweight all-purpose knife with a length of 17 cm, a blade thickness of 1.8 mm, and a weight of 115 g, ideal for vegetables, bread, and meat. The JALAPENO-13 is a compact vegetable knife with a 13 cm blade, 1.5 mm thickness, and only 85 g weight, perfect for precise and delicate cutting. The handles combine stained ash with deep black core wood ebony, guaranteeing high elasticity, hardness, and water resistance. A special staining process enhances the grain and optimizes the water resistance of the ash, while the capillary structure of the ebony keeps moisture at bay and ensures durability. Both handles are treated with a surface finish that makes them nearly indestructible. The knives were developed since 217 in collaboration with blacksmith Ngô Thanh Quang from Northern Vietnam, who has seven generations of blacksmithing tradition behind him.
