The smart water filter

Coffee consists of 98 percent water. Accordingly, its perfect quality is elementary for a perfect coffee result. With CLARIS Smart, JURA is revolutionizing water filtration. For the first time, a fully automatic coffee machine* communicates permanently with the filter thanks to modern RFID technology (RFID = Radio-frequency Identification). It recognizes whether a filter is inserted and automatically activates the corresponding mode. It continuously collects information on filter usage and reports when the capacity is exhausted. This not only makes it easier than ever to change the filter, but also allows CLARIS Smart to develop its effectiveness to the full.

Pure water for delicious coffee

CLARIS Smart works according to the professional upflow principle and always filters exactly the amount of water that is needed for preparation. In this way, the filter is used efficiently. There is never any standing, pre-filtered water left in the water tank that could quickly germinate. In addition to limescale, heavy metals and substances that impair odor and taste, such as chlorine, are filtered out. The minerals that are important for health are retained in the water. The result: pure water for perfect coffee specialties and, at the same time, optimum protection of the fully automatic machine against limescale.

Automatic filter detection

To enable a dialogue between the filter and the fully automatic machine, JURA makes use of modern RFID technology. Each machine with the intelligent water system (I.W.S.®) automatically detects when a filter is inserted, automatically switches to filter mode and starts rinsing. If the filter performance is nearing its end, the fully automatic machine indicates that a filter change is due. If this is not done, the device activates the descaling mode. After the machine has been used, it will prompt you to descale it. And this can only be done when the filter has been removed. Incorrect manipulations resulting from misunderstandings are definitely a thing of the past.
