The CLARIS filter cartridge additionally features a depot with natural active ingredients at its lower end, which stabilize the water in the tank and thereby reduce limescale deposits at the bottom of the tank. This works entirely without additional energy or intervention, simply through the natural movement of the water in the tank, which continuously flows through the depot. The upper part of the CLARIS filter cartridge still filters the necessary amount of water for coffee preparation using ion exchange and activated carbon in the upflow principle for a perfect cup of coffee.

Thanks to RFID technology, the fully automatic machine also recognizes whether a filter is in use and automatically activates the corresponding mode. It continuously collects information about filter usage and notifies when the capacity is exhausted. Automatic filter detection
To enable a dialogue between the filter and the fully automatic machine, JURA utilizes modern RFID technology. Each machine with the intelligent water system (I.W.S.®) automatically recognizes when a filter is in use, switches to filter operation by itself, and starts the rinsing process. When the filter performance is nearing its end, the fully automatic machine indicates that a filter change is due. If this does not occur, the device activates the descaling mode. After appropriate use, a prompt for descaling appears. And this can only be done with the filter removed. Misunderstandings leading to incorrect manipulations are thus a thing of the past.
