At its lower end, the CLARIS filter cartridge also has a depot with natural active ingredients that stabilize the water in the tank and thus reduce limescale deposits in the area of the tank bottom. This works entirely without additional energy or action, only through the natural movement of the water in the tank, through which it always flows slightly through the depot. As before, the upper part of the CLARIS filter cartridge for coffee preparation filters exactly the amount of water needed for a perfect cup of coffee by means of ion exchange and activated carbon in the upflow principle.

Thanks to RFID technology, the fully automatic machine also detects whether a filter is inserted and automatically activates the corresponding mode. It continuously collects information on filter usage and reports when the capacity is exhausted. This not only makes it easier than ever to change the filter, but also enables CLARIS Smart+ to develop its effectiveness to the full.

Minerals and fluorides, which act as important flavor carriers, are retained. Automatic filter detection
To enable a dialogue between the filter and the fully automatic machine, JURA makes use of modern RFID technology. Each machine with the intelligent water system (I.W.S.®) automatically detects when a filter is inserted, automatically switches to filter mode and starts rinsing. If the filter performance is nearing its end, the fully automatic machine indicates that a filter change is due. If this is not done, the device activates the descaling mode. After appropriate use, a prompt for descaling appears. And this can only be done when the filter has been removed. This makes incorrect manipulations resulting from misunderstandings a thing of the past.
