King Rhobar II needs large quantities of magical ore to forge powerful weapons and, for this reason, runs the mines in Khorinis with all available prisoners.

To prevent these prisoners from escaping, the monarch commissions his best mages to summon a magical barrier. But something goes wrong. The magic spirals out of control, and a mutiny turns the mining valley into a lawless territory ruled by the most brutal inmates.
The king now has to negotiate with the new rulers while tensions between the various factions within the mining valley escalate. But what no one expects: the arrival of a nameless prisoner will change everything.
