The PMW-F3 is part of the CineAlta 24P family of digital film production. It supports multiple frame rate recording, which allows, among other filmic 23.98P as well as S-Log workflows

In the development of the Exmor ? Super 35 CMOS sensor from Sony flowed two decades of experience in digital film production as well as pioneering work in digital HD acquisition for feature films and television broadcast through the legendary CineAlta product range one. With this camera a true 'film look' and superior image quality for independent movies, pop promos, commercials and other applications are available. In addition, the PMW-F3L is perfect as a B-camera for high-end feature film production.

The PL lens adapter, the PMW-F3L can be used with all standard 35mm lenses. (The PMW-F3K with three lenses is also available.)

Outstanding flexibility and multiple workflow options are two of the key features of the PMW-F3. The proven and intuitive XDCAM EX workflow offers high-speed standard seamless integration with leading nonlinear editing systems. In addition, the 10-bit 4 :2:2 HD-SDI output opens up hybrid recording options with a variety of external recording devices. As of April 2011, the Dual Link HD-SDI option will enable uncompressed 10-bit RGB signal output - ideal for film production in the high-end range.
