The Blackchili STARTER SET includes two hand-forged knives made from recycled carbon steel with a hardness of 61–63 HRC. The HABANERO-17 features a 17 cm long, 1.8 mm thick blade with a slight curve, ideal for vegetables, bread, and meat, weighing in at 115 g. The JALAPENO-13 is a 13 cm long vegetable knife with a blade thickness of 1.5 mm and a weight of 85 g, perfect for precise cuts and delicate tasks. Both blades are ground on both sides to 15°, providing exceptional sharpness and longevity. The handles are made from grained ebony with a collar of deep black core ebony, which ensures high density, hardness, and water resistance. A special surface treatment makes the handles virtually indestructible. The blades are made from retired truck springs, whose carbon steel is particularly elastic and stable due to the addition of silicon. The knives were developed since 217 in collaboration with blacksmith Ngô Thanh Quang from Northern Vietnam, whose family has a seven-generation tradition of blacksmithing.
