It's summer, the sun is shining and the vacation season is upon us. The family is ready for a long car ride on vacation, and the Gotthard Pass is calling! But which exit should you take to reach your destination relaxed and safe? In this blog post, we reveal the best tips and tricks for a successful trip.

The right preparation is everything
Before you set off, you should prepare well for your long journey. This includes not only packing your bags, but also a thorough inspection of your car. Choosing the optimal exit

In general, if you are coming from the Zurich or Basel area, you should take the A2 highway toward Lucerne and then toward the Gotthard. If you are coming from the Bern area, it is recommended to take the A1 in the direction of Zurich and then the A2 in the direction of Gotthard.

The San Bernardino route via the A13 is a popular option to avoid the Gotthard tunnel. Another option is to drive over the Simplon Pass if you are heading towards western Switzerland or France.
