The Sony ECM-680S is an electret condenser microphone in shotgun-MS stereo technology *, which is ideal for various applications in field production and studio recordings. With the newly developed microphone capsules, the ECM-680S offers excellent sensitivity, low inherent noise and a wide, flat frequency response. The most notable feature of the ECM-680S is the switchable operation between the mono-mode with high directivity and stereo mode.
Mono mode ensures voice recordings with high directivity, while a sound is given room with natural sound quality in stereo mode. The compact and lightweight ECM-680S is ideal for use with a wide variety of professional camcorders from Sony. This makes it even more versatile, it can also be mounted on a boom pole. Thanks to its outstanding quality and versatility, the ECM-680S is the first choice for quality-conscious audio recording applications.
* MS microphone signal of the ECM-680S is internally to L and R (stereo) decoded output signals.
Outstanding voice quality,
The ECM-680S uses the Mid-Side (MS) technique that allows a natural stereo sound and excellent localization. Thanks to its newly developed large-diaphragm microphone capsules with bi-directional pattern provides the ECM-680S is an excellent sensitivity of -28 dB * (stereo) / - 32 dB * (mono) and extremely low self noise below 20 dB SPL (stereo / mono).
* 0 dB = 1 V / Pa
Switchable between stereo and mono
The ECM-680S operates in either stereo or monaural (uni-directional) mode and can therefore both EFP also use as ENG applications. The Stereo mode is ideal for receiving ambient sound with a natural sound quality, while the mono mode is ideal for voice and audio recording from a distance. The desired mode can be activated using * the switch on the microphone or on compatible Sony professional.
In stereo mode, the LED light on the microphone lights up so that the user can immediately see which mode is currently in operation.
* The stereo or mono mode can be activated via the CineAlta ? camcorder HDW-F900R HDCAM ? camcorder HDW-790 and the XDCAM ? HD camcorder PDW-F350 / F330 of Sony.
Flat, wide frequency response
With its wide, flat frequency response (50 Hz to 20 kHz (Stereo) / 40 Hz to 20 kHz (monaural)) in stereo or mono mode offers the ECM-680S is a natural, undisturbed sound reproduction of above average quality.
Compact and lightweight
In the ECM-680S is a compact, powerful shotgun microphone that can be used ideally in particular cameras placed. With a length of only 250 mm and weighing less than 140 grams, the device guarantees an optimal camera balance when it is placed on one of many professional camcorders from Sony.
