A baby rabbit is also known as a "kit" and is born in a litter of "kittens" where there can be up to 14 rabbits! They are completely dependent on their mother for up to 3 weeks, as they are born blind and without fur. Rabbits do not open their eyes until the first 7 days and do not have a thick coat of fur until they are 12 days old. Therefore, their mother builds them a fur-lined nest to keep them warm and cozy. However, they grow up super fast because after 4-5 weeks they can take care of themselves and even have their own kittens when they are 3 months old.
