In terms of size and design, it is comparable to the already available XF35mmF2, which establishes a stylish new product line of particularly compact and fast XF lenses. The metal housing gives the lens a premium look and robustness. The aperture ring and focus ring have been designed for optimal usability.

The optical construction of the FUJINON XF23mmF2 R WR consists of ten elements in six groups, including two aspherical lenses that guarantee absolutely precise projection onto the sensor plane, ensuring high sharpness. The aspherical elements are used in the focus group to maintain consistently high image quality across the entire focus range.

Thanks to the metal housing, which is reminiscent of the XF35mmF2 R WR in design, the XF23mmF2 R WR is extremely robust. Nevertheless, the lens is very lightweight at just 180 g. The compact design of the lens prevents the optical viewfinder image from being partially obstructed on the rangefinder cameras X-Pro2 and X-Pro1. The aperture ring and focus ring are designed for optimal usability in terms of torque and click stops.

The autofocus is based on an internal focusing system, where a stepping motor quickly and quietly moves the focus group. Combined with the phase detection AF of the FUJIFILM X-Pro2 and X-T2, the lens achieves autofocus speeds of an impressive 0.05 seconds.

The lens is carefully sealed to protect the interior of the XF23mmF2 R WR from dust and splashes. The lens is also operational at low temperatures down to minus ten degrees Celsius. When combined with a weather-sealed FUJIFILM X-Pro2, X-T1, and X-T2, you can confidently shoot in the rain or in dusty environments.

For this lens, the metal lens hood LH-XF35-2 can be used as a lens hood, which is also compatible with the XF35mmF2 R WR.
