The aperture ring features a scale that displays the selected aperture value. Consequently, it is no longer necessary to read the current settings in the viewfinder or on the rear LCD display of the camera. Another feature is the automatic lock function in position A (Auto), which prevents accidental adjustments to the aperture value and was previously reserved for the medium format lenses of the GFX system.

Inside the lens barrel, there is also a gyroscope that enables improved image stabilization of up to 3.5 EV stops - an increase of 1.0 EV stop compared to the previous model. When used in conjunction with the X series camera generation (e.g., Fujifilm X-T4), which features in-body five-axis image stabilization, exposure times of up to approximately 6.5 EV stops are possible. Despite the enhanced features, it is 25 grams lighter than the previous model. It is also more compact, as the focus and zoom rings have been reduced by three and two millimeters, respectively.

The optical design of the lens comprises fourteen elements in ten groups. Among these are four aspherical lenses that correct for spherical aberrations, distortion, and field curvature, as well as four elements made of ED glass to correct for chromatic aberrations. The result is images with impressive sharpness right into the corners. Despite its compact size, the lens offers a maximum aperture of F4 across the entire focal length range of 10 to 24 mm (equivalent to 15 to 36 mm in full-frame terms).

A sophisticated coating on the concave front lens prevents the ghosting that often occurs with ultra-wide-angle lenses and ensures images of high brilliance and sharpness. The minimum focusing distance is 24 cm, making the lens suitable for close-up shots. Due to the wide angle of view, a large portion of the surroundings is included in the composition, allowing for images with pronounced depth effect. The lens features internal focusing, which ensures reliable autofocus in every situation. Lightweight focusing elements and a highly precise AF motor enable fast and quiet focusing.
