The Yamaha A-S701 is a full-range amplifier with an output power of 2x 100 watts, which can operate up to two pairs of stereo speakers at the same time. The device, which is symmetrical, has a front panel and aluminum controls.

The quality of the individual parts and their interplay are decisive for the sound of each component. That's why Yamaha uses only high-quality components that are carefully selected and tested. The A-S701 guarantees excellent signal reproduction even under demanding conditions - the power transformer and the blocking capacitors are specially designed, the loudspeaker relays have a direct signal path, plus one-point grounding as well as extruded aluminum heat exchangers.

With a direct connection to the CD input, the CD Direct gain maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio during CD playback. If the "Pure Direct" mode is activated, the audio signals are routed over the shortest signal path. By bypassing buffer amps as well as sound, loudness and balance control, a signal loss is virtually eliminated completely and the purest sound quality achieved.

The A-S701 has an analogue loudness control, which is attached to the front. It uses an electronic volume control for the highest sound quality so that the loudness effect can be adjusted as desired. Separated from the normal volume control, the balance between treble and bass can be influenced. This provides the complete tonal bandwidth, and the natural hearing loss of high and low frequencies at low volume is compensated.
