The Story
Relive the story of Theoderic of Akenburg, a former crusader disillusioned by the cruelties of war. Due to events set in motion 15 years ago when he and his brother in arms Ulrich von Grevel found part of the ancient artifact Aaron's Staff, he is called back into battle. A young monk named Malcolm brings Theoderich news that the staff holds power not meant for mortals, and Ulrich is obsessed with finding the remaining pieces and assembling the staff, which could bring untold evil and suffering to the world.

Theoderich must now find the remaining relics to prevent them from falling into Ulrich's hands. He embarks on a journey that takes him through Europe and the Middle East, where he meets many other warriors who want to join his cause: from the old and experienced Reinhard von Kempten from the Teutonic Order to the ambitious young merchant Grimhild Eidottr and her raven company. Each of them has different reasons for being there, but little by little bonds are formed that will endure through the trials and tribulations to come.
