High resolution and beautiful bokeh
- E-mount, full frame
- Medium telephoto/macro G lens from Sony
- High resolution and beautiful bokeh
The new 90mm fixed focal length is the ideal lens for macro shots and portraits. As with first-class macro lenses, sharpness and clarity are paramount with the 90mm fixed focal length. A particularly soft bokeh and absolute control over unwanted spherical aberration characterize the new G lens from Sony. The premium lens is also equipped with an optical image stabilizer. This means that 1:1 macro shots can also be taken without a tripod.

Size & Weight:
-
Typical background bokeh of a G lens
The G lens is known for its beautiful background bokeh, which can really make your subject stand out. The individual calibration of each lens ensures that spherical aberrations can be optimally compensated. As a result, the edges of the image are gently blurred and the unattractive lens bokeh is avoided.
A circular aperture with 9 blades additionally supports the creation of an attractive bokeh.
-
Clear images, from macro to infinity
Macro lenses are often used over a wide range of focusing distances. The integrated floating focus mechanism optimally prevents imaging errors at close range. The floating system reduces the size of the lens while maintaining outstanding clarity over the entire image range, from minimum focusing distance to infinity.
-
Precise, quiet autofocus for photography and filming
Two focus units of a so-called floating focus system are driven by an innovative DDSSM (Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave Motor), which ensures the smooth and precise positioning of the relatively heavy lenses for full-frame macro shots. This drive system is remarkably quiet and therefore ideal for wildlife and insect photography as well as filming.
-
Razor-sharp and clear images even without a tripod
A tripod is usually used for sharp macro shots. However, thanks to the integrated OSS (Optical SteadyShot) image stabilizer, fantastic hand-held macro shots can also be taken with this lens. The heavy stabilization element is driven by a smooth linear motor to ensure fast and precise image stabilization.
-
Quickly switch between automatic and manual focus
If you have to look up from the viewfinder to switch between auto and manual focus, you may not get the shot. With this lens, the focus ring, where your hand usually rests during shooting, can be easily moved forwards or backwards to switch between manual and automatic focus. The non-slip surface ensures good handling.
-
Select your focus area for faster autofocus
The focus area limiter can be set to focus in the near or far range depending on the subject and the limiting focus area, thus maximizing the response speed of the autofocus. The setting options are: ∞ ~ 0.5 meters for focusing on distant subjects, 0.5 ~ 0.28 meters for focusing at close range and FULL for the entire focus range.
-
Internal focusing for better handling
With internal focusing, only lens elements move internally to adjust the distance, so that the actual length of the lens remains unchanged. In addition to easier handling, you benefit from faster autofocus and a shorter minimum focusing distance. Furthermore, the filter thread on the front of the lens remains static, which is particularly advantageous when using a polarizing filter.
-
Very close despite the distance
The medium telephoto focal length of this lens also provides you with the ideal working distance for macro enlargements, making it easier to create impressive macro shots of insects, for example, or other subjects that you cannot get close to.

Ideal for movies and photos
In some respects, the demands placed on lenses for filming are higher than those used solely for photography. Sony is therefore particularly keen to ensure that the lenses used in cameras with a movie function deliver the required performance. Minimal breathing and silent operation are essential when recording films, for example.
