The new ease of use is partly due to the new compact yet high-performance autofocus ultrasonic motor (Direct Drive Super Sonic wave Motor). It operates about three times more powerfully than conventional autofocus drives. Additionally, it moves the lenses in the lens extremely quietly, which filmmakers particularly appreciate.

The FE 24 mm F1.4 GM meets all quality standards for G Master lenses and combines high resolution and extreme sharpness with beautiful bokeh. Since spherical aberrations and imaging errors directly affect the quality of the bokeh, these factors are checked during the development and manufacturing of the lenses. Each lens is individually tested and adjusted to deliver the highest image quality with excellent bokeh. Due to its extraordinarily high imaging performance, the compact lens is not only ideal for full-frame cameras but also the perfect complement for Sony's mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensors, such as the Alpha 6500 and Alpha 6300.

The FE 24 mm F1.4 GM features a new optical configuration consisting of ten groups with a total of 13 lens elements. This includes two XA elements (extremely aspherical) and three ED elements (Extra-low Dispersion). Thanks to the innovative design, the resolution at all aperture openings is beyond doubt - even at wide open. The two XA lens elements also effectively eliminate reflections in the sagittal plane. Light points retain their shape and are captured undistorted on the sensor. All those who love astrophotography will particularly appreciate this. Thanks to Sony's special nanocoating, light reflections and ghosting effects can be effectively reduced.
In addition to the advantages for landscape and astrophotography, the FE 24 mm F1.4 GM boasts a minimum focusing distance of just 24 centimeters. The FE 24 mm F1.4 GM features a range of professional controls that help professionals make the most of their lens for both photo and video shooting. With an aperture ring, the aperture can be selected directly. If desired, the aperture ring can also be operated smoothly. Those who do not want to miss the click sound with each aperture change can activate this function directly on the lens. Thanks to the finely tuned focus ring, everyone can easily find the perfect focus point. The focus hold button can be individually configured. The focus mode switch allows for quick switching between autofocus and manual focus depending on the shooting conditions.
