All Profoto softboxes feature a recessed front for attaching a grid. The grid reduces the beam angle to 50°. In other words, it creates a more focused light and minimizes excessive stray light. This allows you to direct the light even more precisely.

By limiting the spread of light, a grid helps to create more contrast in the images, resulting in a more dramatic and atmospheric look. Reducing unwanted stray light is particularly useful when you want to avoid illuminating the background or surrounding areas.
