The HD PENTAX-DA 16-85mm F3.5 ~ 5.6 DC DC WR has a 5.3x zoom factor, which ranges from wide-angle to low-power telephoto with a focal length range of 24 to 130mm (equivalent to 35mm format). Thus, this lens is suitable for a variety of scenes and offers a particularly wide motif world - from indoor shots, portrait photos or images from unusual perspectives to landscape shots.

The construction consists of 16 optical elements in 12 groups. Together with an ED lens element (extra-low dispersion) and three aspherical lenses, the construction ensures exceptional image resolution and even illumination down to the corners of the image and minimizes aberrations.

The lens elements of this lens incorporate Pentax's proprietary multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating, which provides higher light transmission at low reflectance compared to conventional coatings. This allows a maximum of contrast and sharpness without stray light and ghosting even in difficult conditions such as backlighting.
