By tamping, the coffee grounds in the filter are compacted, resulting in a firm and even coffee puck with a smooth and level surface. This prevents channeling and achieves a uniform extraction of all the coffee grounds, allowing all the aromatic substances to be dissolved from the coffee.
The CD Series Tamper is equipped with a pressure-based spring mechanism to ensure stable pressure delivery and prevent tilting. The tamping depth of approximately 23 mm is suitable for various coffee preparation requirements. The outer ring, which rests flat on the portafilter, ensures that the tamper is always pressed straight down. The tamper is simply placed on top and pressed down; the spring pulls the base back up.
This tamper fits perfectly on 53 mm portafilters.
Through repeated testing, MHW 3Bomber has determined that 53.35 mm is the perfect size for leveling tools and tampers. These fit precisely in 53 mm portafilters and reduce coffee ground waste.
It has an ergonomic handle and feels good in the hand. Additionally, the base is equipped with concentric grooves, allowing more coffee grounds to come into contact with the water, leading to better extraction.
The entire tamper is made from high-quality materials. The handle and the middle part are made from an aluminum alloy, while the base and the spring are made from stainless steel (SUS304). The tamper is disassemblable and can therefore be easily cleaned.
With proper use, this tamper can achieve perfect coffee extraction.
