Sea lion pups are born in a nursery where sea lions breed. They are cared for by their mother, who does not leave them for the first few weeks. During this time she does not take any food. Then after 15 days she goes out to sea to hunt for food. Before the hunt, all mothers gather their pups and set up a nursery. No pup is ever left alone. As the pups grow, they become incredible swimmers with torpedo-shaped bodies and powerful fins.
