If you hold a strong Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnet (also called a Super Magnet) very close to the magnetic dough, you won't notice anything at first. But don't worry! After a few seconds you will feel how the magnet is attracted to the dough. The longer you wait, the stronger the attraction will be.

Charge the dough with a super magnet by holding the magnet directly to the dough for a few seconds. You will feel the attraction getting stronger and stronger! Then, when you turn the magnet over, the dough repels the magnet. Hold the magnet against the repulsive force on the dough, and you will feel how the magnetic field becomes weaker and weaker - until it suddenly reverses, and the dough attracts the magnet again!

What can I do with the magnetic dough?

Here are just a few of the many tricks you can do with Magnetic Putty and a Super Magnet:
Attract a Super Magnet or other pieces of Magnetic Putty to
Gather light, metal objects such as paper clips or safety pins.
Discover the shape of the magnetic field lines that emanate from a magnet.
Move a super magnet from a distance without touching it.
Place the magnet next to or on top of the dough and watch the dough slowly "swallow" the magnet.

Are bigger super magnets better?

The stronger the magnet, the more impressive the effects of the magnetic dough. The Super Magnet you get from us has an edge length of 12mm. This is also the size you see in the videos. These magnetic cubes have an adhesive force of about 6.3 kg, so they are really strong! In our opinion, these magnets have the best ratio of strength and safety.

Of course, you can always use stronger super magnets. But be careful! The stronger the magnet, the more carefully you should handle it.
