The HOYA Variable Density II is a filter with adjustable density that covers an ND range from 1.5 to 9 stops (ND3-400). The filter features a newly designed rotating frame that includes a convenient knob for improved handling. For still images, a variable density filter allows photographers to shorten the shutter speed according to their intentions when this is not possible due to camera limitations. In video recording, it is important that the shutter speed matches the set frame rate, ideally double the frame rate. By using a variable density filter, the shutter speed can be adjusted accordingly to achieve the natural and smooth motion desired in video recordings, as illustrated in the following image.
- Diameter of 72 mm
- Filter with adjustable density and an ND range of 1.5 to 9 stops (ND3-400)
- Made of optical glass for optimal image quality; ideally suited for creative photo or video shooting
- Provides a longer shutter speed and allows for better control over depth of field
- Slim design to prevent vignetting
