Metal protection paint directly on rust Hammerite metal protection paint directly on rust is a primer, undercoat and topcoat in one. DUALTECH offers double protection: water runs off and rust is stopped - the metal remains resistant for longer. Pre-treatment: Sand down smooth surfaces, remove loose rust and old, flaking layers of paint with a wire brush. Remove dirt, dust and grease residues with a diluted cleaning agent. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry thoroughly. Apply Hammerite Direct Rust Protection Paint to a small, already painted area and leave to dry for 1 hour. If no reaction occurs, apply Hammerite Direct Rust Protection Paint to the entire surface. If a reaction occurs, remove all old layers of paint before applying Hammerite Direct Rust Protection Paint directly to metal. For bare zinc, aluminium and hot-dip galvanized surfaces, treat the affected areas with Hammerite Special Primer before applying Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Protection Paint. Application: Brush application: Ideal application temperature 11°C to 25°C. Stir lightly before use. Apply undiluted. A single coat is sufficient on pre-painted metal surfaces in good condition. Two coats are required on bare and rusty metal. Ensure that all corners and edges are well covered. Do not apply too thick a coat to avoid running.
