Why is temperature measurement in the ear with the Braun ThermoScan an advantage?

The ThermoScan from Braun measures the infrared heat emitted by the eardrum and the surrounding tissue. Since the eardrum is supplied by the same blood vessels as the temperature control center in the brain, the ear precisely reflects the changes in the core body temperature.
