Piggyback shock absorbers are characterized by having a reservoir located on the side of the shock housing, which serves various functions.
The reservoir is an additional container for oil, which partially features an enlarged surface area due to cooling fins. When the oil in shock absorbers becomes too warm due to extreme stress, the damping function is lost due to gas formation in the oil. To prevent this, the additional oil reservoir increases the oil volume and enlarges the cooling surface of the shock housing, ensuring that the oil does not heat up too quickly under extreme loads.
To avoid leakage during transport, only our shock absorber housings are filled with 100CPS oil as standard. For full performance, the reservoir must also be well filled with oil.
