The two XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements of the lens, which meets the strict G Master standards, offer high resolution right to the edge of the image, even at the maximum aperture of F1.8. One Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and two ED glass elements prevent colour bleeding for impressive sharpness and clarity, while Sony's AR Nano Coating II minimizes reflections and ghosting.

Precise aspherical elements, including two high-precision XA elements, in innovative G Master optical design combine with two advanced Sony XD linear motors to deliver exceptional overall performance in a compact lens that weighs just 460 grams. The ultra-wide-angle lens with large aperture can be taken anywhere to show the world in a new way.

The versatility of the large aperture and ultra-wide angle of view is complemented by a curved XA front element that minimizes sagittal reflections in starry skies and other night shots. With precise XA elements, a circular aperture with nine blades and ideally adjusted deviation, this ultra-wide-angle lens enables beautiful background bokeh without unwanted onion rings. The minimum focus distance is only 0.25 m, so you can combine dynamic close-ups with aesthetic background bokeh.


Fast, precise, quiet autofocus for photos and videos

Two XD linear motors enable precise alignment of the lens focus groups for fast, accurate, quiet AF performance, maximizing the speed potential of E-mount cameras. The quiet, low-vibration AF is an unprecedented advantage for wide-angle video. Thanks to mobility and fast response time, any subject can be captured according to creative ideas.


In addition to the fluorine coating on the front element, which protects against water, oil and other contaminants, the rear element also has a corresponding coating so that the surface is not contaminated when a rear filter is changed. The dust and moisture repellent design increases reliability when the ultra wide-angle lens with large aperture is used in challenging outdoor conditions.
